Application, Requirements, and Benefits - Summer Program Orlando

Summer teen volunteers must apply after January 1 for the following summer, and they must be at least 14 years old by the start of the summer program. Early application is recommended, as our program fills up quickly.

All volunteers must:

  • Be 14 years of age by the beginning of summer program
  • Volunteer for 7 of the 9 weeks of the program
  • Contact the Volunteer Services Department to request an online application
  • Gain medical clearance including two tuberculosis tests, an immunization record, and a urine drug screening. If an immunization record cannot be provided a blood titer will be done. (All medical clearances are provided by Nemours at no cost to the volunteer.)
  • Clear background screenings, including – but not limited to – two personal references
  • Participate in an interview with the Director of Volunteer Services
  • Complete a 3-hour orientation prior to volunteering
  • Make a commitment to serve at least 50 hours per year
  • Serve a 4- or 8-hour shift once per week in a designated time slot

  • Be able to speak and understand English
  • Be willing to learn the skills necessary to be competent in their duties and responsibilities
  • Have a helpful and caring attitude and a respect for confidentiality
