Application, Requirements, and Benefits - Summer Program

Requirements

High school student volunteers must:

  • be 16 years of age or have completed 10th grade by the beginning of the summer program
  • volunteer two days per week for the entirety of a four-week session. There are two four-week sessions available.
  • gain medical clearance including two tuberculosis tests, an immunization titer, and a urine drug screening (all provided by Nemours)
  • clear background and abuse registry screenings, including a letter of recommendation
  • participate in an interview where skills, interests, and expectations are matched with the needs of patients, families, and staff
  • satisfactorily complete a 4-hour orientation

 

Application Time Frame

  • Students are encouraged to call during the month of January only to
    request an application.

 

Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • have consistent patience interacting with children from birth to age 18, as well as with their siblings and parents
  • be able to speak and understand English
  • be willing to learn the skills necessary to be competent in their duties and responsibilities
