In many circles, Dr. Leonard Berry’s name is synonymous with marketing. He is a professor, an author and a passionate advocate for improving quality of service.
He is a University Distinguished Professor of Marketing, Regents Professor, Presidential Professor for Teaching Excellence, and holds the M.B. Zale Chair in Retailing and Marketing Leadership in the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University. He also is a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement in Cambridge, Mass., where he is studying service improvement in cancer care for patients and their families.
An accomplished author, he is one of the most frequent contributors to services marketing literature in the United States. His books include: Management Lessons from Mayo Clinic (2008), Discovering the Soul of Service (1999), and On Great Service (1995).
Dr. Berry has been recognized with the highest honor Texas A&M bestows on a faculty member, the "Association of Former Students Distinguished Achievement Award," on three occasions: in 1990 for teaching, and in 1996 and 2008 for research. In 2007, he was recognized with the highest honor given to a marketing professor, the American Marketing Association/McGraw-Hill/Irwin Distinguished Marketing Educator Award and in 2008, the Paul D. Converse Award. Dr. Berry’s extensive background in services marketing, service quality and healthcare delivery is a valuable asset to Nemours in its journey to being one of the finest pediatric health systems in the world.
