Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
Debbie Platz serves Nemours Children’s Health System as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. She joined Nemours in 2011 as the General Counsel for Nemours Children’s Hospital (NCH) in Orlando, Fla., responsible for all of Nemours affiliate operations in Central Florida.
Debbie oversees all Government Relations activity occurring in the states in which Nemours conducts business. In addition, her office is responsible for assuring compliance with all laws and regulations regarding lobbying and related activities at both the State and Federal level.
Prior to becoming General Counsel, Debbie served as Nemours first Operational Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of Operations and was a member of the Florida Leadership Team. In that role, she also provided governance advice and legal counsel to Nemours’ Florida Board of Managers and to the Nemours Board of Directors with regard to our operations.
Before joining Nemours, Debbie’s career included private practice in administrative and commercial litigation focused on healthcare. She interned with the office of Florida’s Attorney General, received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona, her Juris Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center and completed the Harvard Business School Management Program.
Debbie is a member of the Florida Bar and is licensed to practice before the Florida Supreme Court and the U.S. District Courts of Middle and North Florida and is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association.
Active in the community, Debbie serves on the boards of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and Northern Florida and the Florida Charter School Foundation. She is also a member of the Jacksonville Women’s Network and the Harvard Club of Florida.
