Dr. Josephson is Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Nemours Children’s Health, Jacksonville. He joined Nemours in 2000 from his previous tenure at the University of Miami College of Medicine. Dr. Josephson is a board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatric otolaryngologist (head and neck surgeon).

Dr. Josephson holds academic rank of Professor at both the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He has received many awards for his contributions to the medical profession and advocacy for children, including selection for the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who.

He is an active member of many societies and participates on boards and committees nationally. Dr. Josephson has numerous peer-reviewed publications in the medical literature in addition to invited articles, book chapters and a medical text he edited titled “Complications in Pediatric Otolaryngology.” Dr. Josephson is also a published author, with a recently released self-help book “Ordinary to Extraordinary: Seven Principles for Life Success.” He has consulted with medical equipment companies to provide expertise on surgical innovation and has developed several instruments currently used in surgical practice.

Dr. Josephson remains actively engaged in research, education and clinical care. He is often a guest lecturer nationally and internationally and he has enjoyed volunteering for international medical mission trips to care for adults and children with facial deformities.

Dr. Josephson received his Bachelor’s degree with honors from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany and his MD degree at SUNY Downstate Medical College with Distinction in Research. He completed an otolaryngology residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he was honored with the Resident Teaching Award and Turner Award for excellence in otolaryngology. Dr. Josephson also completed a pediatric otolaryngology fellowship at the University of Virginia, as well as a Master’s in business administration (MBA) with honors from the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) Isenberg School of Management. In 2018, he received his physician executive certification (CPE) through the American Association of Physician Leadership.

On a personal note, Dr. Josephson enjoys nature, outdoor activities and staying physically fit. His greatest passion is spending time with his wife, Patricia, a Jacksonville pediatrician, and their two children. Dr. Josephson and his family currently reside in Jacksonville, Florida.
