Nemours Children’s Health System, among the most respected pediatric health care systems in the region and nation, has reached a new agreement with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ). The agreement took effect on August 1, 2014 and means that, Horizon BCBSNJ members can once again take advantage of the services offered at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington (AIHDC) as well as Nemours outpatient locations throughout the Delaware Valley.

In addition to reinstating Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in the Horizon Hospital Network, Nemours and Horizon BCBSNJ also reached a new agreement with the physicians affiliated with Nemours to reinstate physicians into their provider network. Horizon BCBSNJ members can now receive care from those physicians at the in-network benefit level.

“For years, Nemours has focused on a simple idea - we want to make high-quality pediatric subspecialty care and compassionate, pioneering doctors available to Garden State families,” said Dr. Roy Proujansky, Chief Executive of Nemours Delaware Valley Operations. “Our vision is for helping future generations of New Jersey’s children to grow up healthy and this agreement is a clear step in that direction.”

Horizon BCBSNJ members now have a choice of network hospitals throughout New Jersey and nearby in New York, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Nemours will again receive referrals from participating Horizon BCBSNJ physicians that are given to patients for in-network facilities and may also be located through their online Provider Directory.

“We are pleased to once again provide Horizon BCBSNJ members expanded access to our unique, family focused care model,” Proujansky said. “There’s a simple idea at the heart of this model: our patients need to be able to access the team caring for them. That’s why we have committed to saving families time and stress, and strengthening the continuity of the care we provide. This agreement allows us greater ability to further those efforts.”
