Nemours Nurse Elected President of Emergency Nurses Association

Deena Brecher, MSN, RN, APRN, ACNS-BC, CEN, CPEN, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Emergency Department at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, has been elected to the National Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Board of Directors as the 2013 President-Elect.

In her new role, Ms. Brecher will represent more than 40,000 of the nation’s top emergency nursing professionals advocating for patient safety and excellence in emergency nursing practice.

ENA is the only professional nursing association dedicated to defining the future of emergency nursing and emergency care through advocacy, expertise, innovation and leadership. Founded in 1970, ENA develops and disseminates education and practice standards and guidelines, and works in partnership with other health care entities to promote an understanding of emergency nurses and their practice.

“For eight years, Deena has been a force on the Emergency Department team,” says Ken Molczan, MSN, RN, Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children Emergency Department Nurse Manager. “We are thrilled that as President of the Emergency Nurses Association, she will also be part of the ED team that will open the new duPont Hospital for Children Emergency Department in 2014.”

Ms. Brecher earned her BSN in 1997 at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, PA. In 2004, Ms. Brecher received her MSN at the University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston, TX, and she joined the Nemours Emergency Department.

Ms. Brecher’s new role on the board begins January 1, 2013.
