Gina F. Ward

Gina F. Ward

Gina F. Ward of Wilmington has been named to the Board of Managers – Delaware Valley of The Nemours Foundation. Ms. Ward is a veteran of the health care industry and has served on a variety of area non-profit boards and committees since moving to Delaware with her family in 2002.

A native of South Bend, Ind., Ms. Ward graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting. For more than a decade, Ms. Ward was a healthcare executive with Baxter International, a global healthcare company. During that time, she received her CPA certificate and held positions in accounting, corporate finance and healthcare consulting. As a consultant, she provided operational consulting to hospitals across the United States.

In Delaware, Ms. Ward has lent her considerable energy to health care and children’s causes. She was appointed in 2012 by Governor Markell to the Delaware Health Resources Board, charged with promoting the efficient use of health care resources across the state. At St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Ms. Ward has been an advocate, ambassador, and Foundation Board Chair, involved with operations and fundraising. She also serves on the board of the Rodney Street Tennis and Tutoring Association, which brings athletic and academic enrichment to underserved children in the city.

Ms. Ward and her husband Rodman have three children: two daughters, aged 18 and 16, and a son, 13, all of whom have visited duPont Hospital for minor emergencies. The couple’s middle daughter, an athlete, was treated at Nemours for a humerus (arm) fracture that required surgery and a foot fracture. Ms. Ward described their experience at the hospital as “truly holistic. We learned together as mother and daughter about healing, nutrition and balance. The personal and focused attention was outstanding. It is definitely a part of the culture because it’s practiced by everyone we encountered.”

Ms. Ward looks forward to serving Nemours at an exciting time in its history, with the opening of the newly expanded facility. After touring the new wing, she remarked: “The color, light and energy are magnificent. It’s not just medical and technical expertise you look for in a children’s hospital. The building reflects hope and joy, it lives and breathes it.”

Jack Porter, Nemours Board of Directors, said: “Gina brings an exceptional combination of financial acumen, leadership skills, health care industry expertise and a history of community service to the Board of Managers – Delaware Valley. We are pleased and proud to welcome her to Nemours.”
