Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children is Among Nation's 'Most Wired'

Thursday, Jul 28, 2011

Wilmington, DE — Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children has been recognized among the “Most Wired” hospitals and health systems in the U.S. by Hospitals and Health Networks magazine. Being named to the annual Most Wired list is a coveted distinction that bespeaks a hospital’s meaningful use of health information technology.

This year, judging criteria looked at progress in adoption, implementation and use of information technology in the four areas of infrastructure, business management, clinical quality and safety, and care continuum. Thus, hospitals and health systems were recognized for excellence in IT based on the organization's achievements with respect to those areas of analysis. The list is no longer limited to the “top 100” but includes all hospitals that were judged to have met at least “core” status based on the four criteria.

Like other Most Wired designees, the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children has used IT to improve patient safety and quality of care in important areas such as surgical wound infections, medication error rates and vaccination rates.

Gina Altieri, Nemours VP for Corporate Services, said, “The Most Wired designation, along with the Davies Award of Excellence bestowed earlier this year, are prestigious national validations of Nemours’ journey to excellence in health information technology and the meaningful application of health IT to better serve children and families.”
