Nemours Children's Hospital Receives Membership Into Children's Hospital Association

Monday, Mar 12, 2012

Nemours Children's Hospital, Orlando

Nemours Children’s Hospital is pleased to announce Chief Nurse Executive Barbara Meeks will represent Nemours as part of the organization’s recent acceptance into the Children’s Hospital Association. Nemours’ constant pursuit to give children the best medical care helped earned its membership into the association.

As the Children’s Hospital Association official representative, Meeks will act as Nemours’ voice by sharing her, and the hospital’s, experience and expertise in children’s health care with the Children’s Hospital Association board, which is comprised of 223 members from the nation’s leading children’s hospitals and supporters around the world.

“We are joining an elite group of health providers whose singular focus is to provide the best medical treatment for children along with being a leader in children’s health research,” said Barbara Meeks, Chief Nurse Executive for Nemours Children’s Hospital. “I look forward to collaborating with other Children’s Hospital Association members on ideas to improve children’s health and healthcare across the nation.”

Children’s Hospital Association’s main intention is to ensure all children receive the best health care, a philosophy that coincides with Nemours. Through education, research, health promotion and advocacy, the national association works to keep children’s health on the nation’s forefront while providing a communications network for its members.

“We welcome Nemours Children’s Hospital to the family of care givers devoted to improving the health of children, and we look forward to its active involvement,” said Children’s Hospital Association President and CEO Mark Wietecha.

Children’s hospitals make up less than five percent of all hospitals, but are the foundation to the nation’s pediatric health care infrastructure. Although few in number, they provide a disproportionately large share of the nation’s pediatric acute clinical care; are vital centers of education in pediatric medicine; and are the centers of leading-edge research in children’s health. Children’s Hospital Association creates a network for children’s hospitals to disburse information so all children can receive the best possible medical outcomes.
