Nemours Children's Health System Expands to Maitland

New Primary Care Office Offers Physicals and Check Ups

Monday, Nov 3, 2014

Families in Maitland will now have direct access to one of the largest pediatric health systems in the country. Nemours Children’s Primary Care, Maitland is now open at 100 East Sybelia Avenue. Dr. Anne van Wert, a board certified pediatrician, and her team are now available to provide pediatric services such as immunizations to sick visits.

While Nemours is most widely known for its pediatric specialists, it now has ten primary care locations in Central Florida. Patients at all Nemours Children’s Primary Care locations will be more connected to Nemours’ pediatric specialists since all the primary care offices share an electronic health record with Nemours Children’s Hospital and Nemours Children’s Specialty Care.

“If a doctor at Nemours Children’s Primary Care identifies a particular medical issue, the team at the hospital will see that important information in a child’s electronic health record, should the child need to see a specialist or need hospitalization,” said Dr. Lane Donnelly, Chief Medical Officer of Nemours Children’s Hospital. “This shared electronic information helps Nemours bring families the safest, most cost-effective care.”

Dr. Anne van Wert has been caring for Central Florida’s children for more than 30 years. She’s been named a Top Doctor by Orlando Magazine and has participated in numerous medical missions around the world. “I respect that every child and family is different, and it’s important to be culturally sensitive and to help meet people where they are in their lives,” said Dr. van Wert.

Nemours Children’s Health System wants to bring its services closer to where Central Florida families live, work and play. Nemours has been growing rapidly in Florida. After opening Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando’s Lake Nona Medical City in October 2012, the system now has 20 locations in Central Florida including Nemours Children’s Primary Care, Nemours Children’s Urgent Care and Nemours Children’s Specialty Care.
