Get to Know Me

I grew up in Florida where my father was an orthopedist. I watched him making a day-to-day difference in people’s lives, and it inspired me to want that too. I started my career in Washington, D.C., working on health care policy, but quickly learned that I could be more effective by directly caring for people, so I followed in my father’s footsteps.

Why I Treat Children

Because of the variety of problems we encounter in the field of pediatric orthopedics, the work is always interesting and challenging. On a personal level, what I enjoy most is working with children and families. It’s so rewarding to help a child overcome obstacles so they can reach their full potential.

What I'm Passionate About

I’m passionate about trying to help families find the right solution for their child’s problem. My special interests are children with spinal deformities, sports medicine and pediatric trauma. I’ve become passionate about injury prevention. Children are exposed to a lot of potential trauma in sports. It’s important to take precautions to keep them safe.

How I Try to Make A Difference

I stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and technologies so I can deliver the highest quality care possible. I work to establish a team approach with my patients and their families. Informed decision-making leads to better outcomes, and that means bringing families in on everything they need to know about the best options for treatment.I also participate in research, student education and national organizations that help improve orthopedics. My wife and I have three children. They are part of the reason I volunteer to help children in countries that don’t have pediatric services.
