Step Down Study/Use of Mobile Devices & the Internet to Streamline an Asthma Clinical Trial Parallel
What is the trial about?
This "Consent Comprehension Parallel Study" is designed to measure comprehension and retention of study information using the Research Participant Assessment questionnaire.
Who can participate?
Children who are the ages of 12 through 17, have asthma that is well controlled and are on a combination medication of inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) and long-acting beta agonists such as low or high doses of Advair, Symbicort or Dulera.
What is involved?
Study has only 1 visit, (phone or clinic depending on study arm assigned), and participation will last up to 2 hours.
You and your child will view the MICT study video or read the LASST paper consent/assent form (depending on the study arm assigned), then you and your child will have an appointment by phone or in the clinic with the study coordinator who will review your understanding of the study and answer any questions you may have. The session will be audio recorded, downloaded and stored for late analysis. We will ask you to look at some health information and then ask you a few questions about that information.
