Neural Correlates of the Y Chromosome in Autism: XYY Syndrome as a Genetic Model

Clinical Trial

Offered by: Nemours Children's
Location: Delaware Valley

Trial Name

Neural Correlates of the Y Chromosome in Autism: XYY Syndrome as a Genetic Model

What is the trial about?

We want to learn more about brain structure and function in boys. Two different conditions that affect boys will be studied: XYY syndrome and autism spectrum disorder. Typically developing boys will also be included.

Who can participate?

Boys between the ages of 6 and 17 years old including boys with 47, XYY, boys with autism spectrum disorder and typically developing boys.

What is involved?

Your son will undergo a complete history and physical examination as well as a learning evaluation. This age-appropriate cognitive and behavioral evaluation assesses a number of areas of your child's cognitive functioning. A report summarizing these results will be made available to you and/or to the child's teacher if you wish. Your son will also be asked to provide a blood sample, which will be used to assess hormonal development. If needed, the procedures will be administered over the course of two days.

There will be one blood draw from the child.
