Kandia Lewis is a nationally certified school psychologist with experience working with children who have academic, social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. Dr. Lewis is a Research Scientist at Nemours BrightStart! and she is completing her postdoctoral clinical hours to earn her licensure in psychology. She received a B.A. in Psychology from Rutgers University, and an M.A., and an Ed.S., in School Psychology and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Delaware. She also completed her postdoctoral research fellowship at Temple University.
Dr. Lewis is a strong advocate of early intervention and prevention initiatives because she understands that these approaches are the best way to promote the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of young children. Her primary area of research focuses on young bilingual children’s language and literacy development. She is also interested in empirically validating language and literacy programming and interventions and evaluating the psychometric properties of measures using mixed methods design. Dr. Lewis presents her research findings at local, national, and international conferences, and she publishes her work in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Lewis lives in Philadelphia, PA with her cat, Khaleesi. She enjoys yoga, swimming, and spending time outdoors. She also enjoys domestic and international travel.
