Occupational Therapy

A pediatric occupational therapy patient plays with blocks.

Our pediatric occupational therapy program provides evaluation and treatment services for children who have difficulty performing everyday activities. We design a comprehensive pediatric occupational therapy program tailored to your child. Our goal is always to restore as much function and independence as possible.

Helpful Resources
Resources for Patients & Families

Our pediatric occupational therapy team at Nemours Children’s Hospital provides rehabilitation and therapeutic services on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

We strive to help children with disabilities or acquired injuries to maximize their functional independence in the areas of:
  • Selfcare/Activities of Daily Living (ADL)
  • fine motor coordination
  • visual perceptual and visual motor integration
  • sensory processing and integration
  • feeding
  • high-level functional learning

Because occupational therapy for children is useful in a wide range of situations, we routinely fabricate upper extremity splints for children recovering from surgery and for those with neuromuscular disorders and cerebral palsy. The pediatric occupational therapists at Nemours also use serial casting and splinting for children who participate in a spasticity management program.

If needed, we may recommend certain types of adaptive equipment and/or customized devices that will help your child to feed, bathe, toilet, and perform other Activities of Daily Living more independently.
