About Our Center

Our team of experts is backed by more than 70 years of orthopedic leadership.

Our Sports Medicine program at the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children is part of one of the largest and most widely respected pediatric orthopedic practices in the United States — and the world.

At our Center for Sports Medicine, we offer a variety of sports performance, rehabilitation, and training programs developed and run by physicians, athletic trainers and occupational and physical therapists who specialize in sports medicine.

Our "multidisciplinary approach" also incorporates specialists from Orthopedic Surgery, Neurology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Cardiology and Nutrition.

The Center's many services include:
  • Sports Performance Programs to help with core strength, coordination, balance and biomechanics — improving your child's performance and preventing injury.
  • One-on-one personal assessment and training (including 3-D computerized running analysis).
  • Multidisciplinary “Concussion Clinic” to evaluate and treat teens and children of all ages (with pre-season baseline cognitive testing available to compare brain/cognitive function before the season starts, then after a head injury). Learn more about our baseline concussion screening.
  • Physical therapy that's catered to your child's development and skill level.
  • Next Step Training program for patients to prevent injury and continue with a supervised exercise routine.
  • Research projects to progress the field of pediatric Sports Medicine.
  • Community education programs to promote the latest research and ideas in Sports Medicine.
  • Evidence-based interventions in surgery, medicine, etc.
  • Certified hand therapists — occupational or physical therapists with advanced clinical skills in the rehabilitation of hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder conditions and injuries.
