About Our Beneficiary

COMPASSIONATE CARE FUND

Your participation in Night with Nemours - Taste of France in Jacksonville will benefit our Compassionate Care Fund, which restores the health of critically ill children by supporting the highest quality care for the most vulnerable children wherever the need is greatest.

The Fund supports programs like Child Life Services at Nemours Children's Specialty Care, Jacksonville, which helps kids cope with fear, confusion, loss of control and isolation that can accompany treatment. Child life professionals help normalize what can be an overwhelming experience by providing animal-assisted therapy (AAT) and music and art therapy, among other services.

In a first-of-its-kind model, our Assisted Dog and Pony Therapy program has proven to decrease patient and family anxiety and depression and increase positive responses to treatments. Patients experience demonstrated mental health benefits when AAT includes equine and canine interactions.

Music therapy is highly effective and involves a variety of experiences to achieve positive changes in behavior. In addition, research has shown that playing and listening to music affects the whole brain, including areas that control movement, speech, reward, emotional processing and memory.

Art With a Heart uses the creative process to help children experiencing the stress of treatment reflect, cope with symptoms, express their feelings and enjoy the life-affirming pleasures of creating art.
