Moving Health Care Upstream (MHCU) is a partnership between Nemours and the UCLA Center for Healthier Children, Families and Communities to accelerate innovations that improve health of the community by promoting child and family well-being. This new initiative is generously funded by the Kresge Foundation, and is designed to advance a better system of health for children and families.
Right now, upstream determinants of health affect communities where people live, work and play, leading to health disparities early in life and poor health outcomes throughout the life course. Across the country, there is an urgent need to shine a light on health care system strategies that narrow persistent and costly health inequities at their origins. That’s where we come in.
To do this, the Moving Health Care Upstream partnership will give the most promising population health and health delivery innovators a structured platform to share, learn and innovate. By working together to lift up promising practices, we can ensure better outcomes through integrated, high-quality child, family and community-oriented services.
