Mark R. Marcantano, JD

President, Delaware Valley Region

Mark R. Marcantano, JD, joined Nemours Children’s in January 2024 and serves as the President for the Delaware Valley region and a member of Nemours’ Executive Cabinet, reporting to the enterprise Chief Operating Officer.

In his role as President, Mark is responsible for all clinical operations in the region including ambulatory surgery centers and all primary, specialty and urgent care practices and prevention efforts. The Delaware Valley leadership team reports to him. 

Mark is a champion for continuous improvement and creating durable operational processes that enable safe, high-quality pediatric care. He is passionate about bringing world-class health care closer to home for children and families and works to align clinical, strategic, operational and financial priorities to expand Nemours geographic presence and impact in its communities. 

He is a seasoned health care executive with over 25 years of multidisciplinary experience which includes operations, strategic planning, financial performance, and ambulatory network and biomedical research oversight at prominent pediatric academic medical centers. Before joining Nemours, Mark served as Chief Administrative Officer at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center (JHCC), where he was responsible for the strategy, operations, finances and budgeting. 

Before JHCC, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer at Care New England’s Women & Infants Hospital/Brown University, where he oversaw the hospital’s main campus, approximately 40 off-site locations and a workforce of nearly 3,000 employees. He has also served as the VP of Ambulatory and Network Services at Boston Children’s Hospital where he established the hospital's ambulatory network strategy and was responsible for over 1,500 physician providers and 1,000 nurses and staff. 

His wide-ranging career also includes experience with a health care technology startup and a nonprofit focused on education and child development.

Mark holds a Juris Doctor degree from Albany Law School of Union University and a bachelor’s degree in finance/international business from New York University, Stern School of Business. He has also completed the Executive Leadership Program and the Quality and Safety Leadership Development Program from Harvard Business School and is a member of the Bar in Washington, D.C., New York and Connecticut.
