Jeremy P. Wilson Foundation

Jeremy Wilson

On Sept. 26, 2012, the Wilson family of Malvern, PA, made a special gift to promote childhood cancer research at Nemours. Through the Jeremy P. Wilson Foundation at the Chester County Community Foundation, the family gave $20,000 in memory of their son, Jeremy, a patient of Nemours who died from a rare form of childhood cancer in 2008 at the age of 11. The Wilsons’ generous gift will support the Nemours Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, particularly sarcoma and rare tumor research.

Does a child in your life have a birthday or other special day coming up? He or she is sure to enjoy these books and huggable plush animals! This season, Kohl's will feature 4 special-edition plush animals and 5 books by the beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss. The cuddly plush animals include the Cat in the Hat, Horton, Gator, Sleeps and Rhino.

Classic children’s books by Dr. Seuss include: The Cat in the Hat, The ABC Book, Horton Hears a Who!, The Sleep Book, and Happy Birthday to You! as well as Dr. Seuss note cards and envelopes. To start your New Year off in the healthiest way, Kohl’s is also offering Good Housekeeping’s Drop 5 Lbs. and Light & Healthy Cooking. All items are only $5 each. One hundred percent of net proceeds are donated to kids’ health and education initiatives in communities nationwide. More than $208 million has been raised since 2000.

Hyundai Hope On Wheels

Hyundai Hope On Wheels and Wilmington-area Hyundai dealers awarded Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children a $250,000 Hope Grant to support pediatric cancer research.

Dr. Andrew Napper of Nemours is one of 41 recipients of Hope On Wheels’ 2012 Hyundai Hope Grants. In all, $10.25 million will be awarded in grants during the month of September in honor of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

“We are honored to receive this funding and to have the support of Hyundai Hope On Wheels as we look for more and better ways to treat and ultimately cure pediatric cancer,” said Dr. Napper. “This funding goes directly towards research that could extend and improve quality of life for children with cancer.”

Escape to Paradise Travel

Escape to Paradise Travel raises money to benefit Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. Reserve your next vacation with Escape to Paradise Travel and you will be helping children in need. For every vacation reservation deposited, Escape to Paradise Travel will donate $25.00* per reservation to Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. For all Sandals & Beaches reservations of 6 nights or longer, Escape to Paradise Travel will give $50.00 to Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children and a $50.00 Visa Gift Card to the client. Boyd's FlowerConnection

Sending flowers to friends or family? Boyd's FlowerConnection is offering a unique online fundraising program to benefit schools and nonprofit organizations. Sharing Hands was designed as a way to continuously give something back to the community all year long.

With each order a customer can make a $2 donation to one or more participating organizations, including Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. Simply select the Sharing Hands pull down menu on the order form and choose Nemours/Alfred I. duPont.

The Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation in Winter Park has made a $500,000 commitment to encourage philanthropy in support of Nemours Children’s Hospital, matching contributions from
our donors.

Skanska is a leading international project development and construction company, constructing some of the world’s most iconic structures and developing offices and infrastructure projects throughout the United States. Beyond its role in building the hospitals of tomorrow for Nemours, Skanska has been a generous philanthropic partner, sponsoring black-tie galas, and golf tournaments in Wilmington and Jacksonville, holding successful annual golf tournaments in Orlando for the benefit of Nemours Children’s Hospital, and underwriting a recent Hard Hat event to give community leaders a preview of the new Hospital.
