Making an Appointment
When you call to make an appointment for a specialty care clinic or outpatient hospital service, we’ll first pre-register your child, collecting information such as:
- your child’s name and address
- your child's date of birth
- parent phone numbers (home and cell)
- primary care physician/referring physician contact information
- pharmacy preference

After your first appointment, you can schedule follow-up care using your online MyNemours account. Learn More »
You’re also welcome to sign in using our self-serve appointment registration kiosks located on every floor, making the entire process more convenient for you.
At Your Appointment
Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment so we'll have plenty of time to register your child in our system.
Please be sure to bring the following items:
- your photo ID
- insurance and/or Medicaid cards
- referral from your referring physician (if required by your insurance)
- co-payment, if applicable
- legal guardianship or custody papers if you are not the parent
If available, please provide:
- preferred pharmacy contact information
- names and dosages of all medications your child is taking (including over-the-counter medications)
- name and number of your primary care physician
- parent (and child’s) social security numbers
- parent work information (address, telephone numbers)
- immigration information (if your child was not born in the U.S.A.)

At Nemours Children’s Hospital, our pediatric specialists take care of kids, from newborns to teens, who are referred to us by primary care family physicians, pediatricians, and other specialists. Outpatient specialty care clinics are located on floors 2 through 5.

Nemours Children’s Hospital’s (NCH) full-service, 16-bed Emergency Department offers unique, family-centered specialty care for your child when it matters most.
Everything from the size and layout of the patient exam rooms, to our rapid intake procedures, is designed to care for infants, children, and teens with urgent, emergent, and critical illness or injury.
Appropriate, Immediate Attention From the Start
At NCH, your child will immediately receive the most advanced pediatric emergency care delivered by highly-trained professionals experienced in treating children with a wide range of special conditions.
Our Emergency Department provides maximum care and comfort, such as:

- registration at bedside

Overnight Stays
Your child may be admitted to NCH in one of several ways:
- Directly from the Emergency Department (ED) where admission paperwork happens at the bedside.
- Directly from the physicians’ office through the Admissions Office.
- Surgical admissions occur on the second floor Surgery Center.
Where Your Child Will Stay
Your child will stay in one of our large, comfortable, single-patient rooms located on the hospital’s second, third, or fourth floors. You’ll feel right at home in a family-friendly space with sleeping accommodations for two parents, a private bathroom, wireless internet access, connections for DVD players and game systems, and flat-screen TVs.
Second Floor: Surgical Patients
This is for children who are surgical inpatients or patients who are recovering from a surgical procedure.

Spaces for Children and Teens
We have many spaces inside the hospital where kids of all ages can enjoy time just being kids, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Emergency Department (ED) Play Space is located on the ground floor for children of all ages visiting the ED
- Teen Space is located on the third floor for adolescents ages 12 years and older
- Play Space is located on the 4th floor (with expansion to the 5th floor) for children ages 12 and younger
Except for the ED, our hospital play spaces are staffed by trained Child Life specialists and volunteers. Please note that all patients, siblings, and guests under 12 must be accompanied by an adult while they play.
Discovery Garden
Located just outside of the cafeteria, our Discovery Garden features:
- lushly planted lawn and gardens for peaceful respite and play
- playful, interactive fountains
- activities like xylophone benches, fragrant flowers, hedge maze, and percussion art
- “show and tell” area for learning about our natural environment
If you can’t make it out to the hospital grounds, enjoy one of our rooftop garden spaces:
- 2nd floor garden is located next to the surgical common area
- 4th floor garden includes an obstacle course and a walking path
Each patient floor has a large open common space where family members can gather and spend time together.
We also have smaller, more intimate family lounges located on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors where you can enjoy quiet, television-free time to rest, read, and relax — just steps from your child’s patient room. Lounges are equipped with a refrigerator and complimentary coffee and tea.

Staying connected to friends and family is important during a hospital stay. If you don’t have your own laptop computer, you can feel free to borrow one while your child’s staying with us overnight – thanks to KINfolk, a non-profit organization that provides free laptops/internet access to hospitalized children across the country. Although we do lend computers to parents, we give priority to kid users.
You can also find KINfolk computers in many of our common spaces.
How to Reserve a Laptop
To reserve a laptop during your child’s hospital stay, simply ask your social worker, nurse, or concierge for more information. Parents also are welcome to call or email a laptop request.
Internet Access
In addition to laptops, NCH has computers with an internet connection in the KidsTRACK resource center, family common areas and lounges, and play spaces. We also provide free wireless access for your own personal electronic devices. Devices automatically connect to the internet through our network — simply accept the Nemours wireless network agreement.
