The Nemours Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children was the recent beneficiary of a $20,000 donation from the Cure4Cam Childhood Cancer Foundation. Cure4Cam was started by the family and friends of Cameron Evans of Downingtown, PA, who lost his battle with cancer in 2012 at age 14. The foundation’s two-fold mission is to raise awareness about pediatric cancer, its effects and current treatments, and to raise funds to support the development of new, less toxic therapies for children fighting the disease. The Leukemia Research Foundation of Delaware (LRFDE) recently hosted its 7th Annual Black Tie Gala fundraiser at The Doubletree Hotel in Wilmington, Del. Denni Ferrara, Foundation President and Founder, presided over the “Moonlight and Martinis” themed program. The LRFDE has pledged $1 million to Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children to further its promising pediatric cancer research and, to date, $250,000 has been donated. Read More »
Does a child in your life have a birthday or other special day coming up? He or she is sure to enjoy these books and huggable plush animals! This season, Kohl's is featuring six special-edition plush animals and five books by beloved children's authors. Books include "Put Me in the Zoo", "Go, Dog, Go"!, "Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb", "The Nose Book", and "Big Dog...Little Dog".
To start your New Year off in the healthiest way, Kohl's is also offering "Cook This, Not That! Skinny Comfort Foods Cookbook" and "Delish: Just Four Ingredients Fast Cookbook". All items are only $5 each. One hundred percent of net proceeds are donated to kids' health and education initiatives in communities nationwide. Support from our local Kohl's stores support the Kohl's Healthy Kids Injury Prevention Program at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. Since 2006, Kohl's has donated $971,000 towards this initiative through the Kohl's Cares program.
Boyd's Flowers is offering a unique online fundraising program to benefit schools and nonprofit organizations. Sharing Hands was designed as a way to continuously give something back to the community all year long.
With each order a customer can make a $2 donation to one or more participating organizations, including Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. Simply select the Sharing Hands pull down menu on the order form and choose Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital.
Kelly Benefit Strategies of Wilmington, Del. has pledged $25,000 to support charities in Delaware through participating in Plus Three. Nemours is one of the chosen charities. Their online community allows you to log "Kudos Points" for walking, running, workout time, bike riding or even physical therapy. Beyond its role in building the hospitals of tomorrow for Nemours, Skanska has been a generous philanthropic partner, sponsoring black-tie galas, and golf tournaments in Wilmington and Jacksonville, holding successful annual golf tournaments in Orlando for the benefit of Nemours Children’s Hospital and underwriting a recent Hard Hat event to give community leaders a preview of the new Hospital.
