The Nemours Fund for Children’s Health is pleased to announce the following foundations have awarded grants in support of physical medicine and rehabilitation programs at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children:
Electrical Stimulation Bike, eye tracking system and speech-generating devices
Art therapy supplies and equipment for Child Life programs
Boccia Paralympic and adaptive fitness programs
The Leukemia Research Foundation of Delaware (LRFDE) recently hosted its Seventh Annual Black Tie Gala fundraiser at The Doubletree Hotel in Wilmington, Del. Denni Ferrara, Foundation President and Founder, presided over the “Moonlight and Martinis” themed program. The LRFDE has pledged $1 million to Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children to further its promising pediatric cancer research and, to date, $250,000 has been donated. Read More »
This season, Kohl's is featuring several books, plush toys and other fun activities along with The Good Housekeeping Christmas Cookbook. All items are only $5 each. Choose from The Lion King, 101 Dalmatians, Mickey & Friends, Dumbo, The Jungle Book and Lady & the Tramp. Plush toys include Simba, Patch, Pluto, Dumbo, Baloo and Lady (online exclusives).
One hundred percent of net proceeds are donated to kids' health and education initiatives in communities nationwide. Support from our local Kohl's stores support the Kohl's Healthy Kids Injury Prevention Program at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. Since 2006, Kohl's has donated more than $950,000 toward this initiative through the Kohl's Cares program.
Boyd's Flowers is offering a unique online fundraising program to benefit schools and nonprofit organizations. Sharing Hands was designed as a way to continuously give something back to the community all year long.
With each order a customer can make a $2 donation to one or more participating organizations, including Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. Simply select the Sharing Hands pull down menu on the order form and choose Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital.
Kelly Benefit Strategies of Wilmington, Del. has pledged $25,000 to support charities in Delaware through participating in Plus Three. Nemours is one of the chosen charities. Their online community allows you to log "Kudos Points" for walking, running, workout time, bike riding or even physical therapy. Melting Barriers was formed in 2006 with the mission to improve the quality of life for children by melting financial barriers. Dedicated volunteers gather yearly to engage the community in a fun, professional golf event to fulfil that mission.
The Nemours Fund for Children’s Health is pleased to announce the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation in Short Hills, N.J. has awarded a Quality of Life grant to underwrite the purchase of a pressure mapping system for the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Nemours Children’s Hospital. This vital equipment will help clinicians identify areas of pressure for children with neuromuscular and neurologic conditions that use wheelchairs.

Beyond its role in building the hospitals of tomorrow for Nemours, Skanska has been a generous philanthropic partner, sponsoring black-tie galas, and golf tournaments in Wilmington and Jacksonville, holding successful annual golf tournaments in Orlando for the benefit of Nemours Children’s Hospital and underwriting a recent Hard Hat event to give community leaders a preview of the new Hospital.
