NCMLTraining

The Center offers unique, transformative leadership training for physicians and other health care leaders. Training is offered for both new and veteran leaders at all levels of health care organizations. Faculty have over 20 years of experience conducting these programs for every major medical specialty, as well as across all specialties at selected institutions. Participants include Program Directors, Department Chairs, Academy officers, and senior medical leaders from across the country. The Pediatric Chief Resident Leadership Training Program, affectionately known as "Chief Camp", is nationally recognized as the seminal training event for incoming pediatric Chief Residents and has served as a model for Chief Resident Training Programs in other specialties.

Our research-proven methodology uses state-of-the-art techniques to engage participants, build skills, and cement learnings. The content of each training program is constantly revised and updated so as to include innovations in leadership theory and approaches. In addition, every NCML program is custom-designed to meet the needs of the particular group. Clients include medical schools, residency programs, health care systems, professional associations, hospitals, etc.

See our calendar for the dates and locations of specific training programs.

Consultation and Facilitation

Health care organizations seek consultation from the Center for a variety of reasons, including:

  • a recent or anticipated change in the organization or its environment
  • desire for clarity about goals and priorities, decision making procedures, and/or roles and responsibilities
  • a need for management and leadership development
  • a need for improved communication and/or teamwork

Specific services include:

  • organizational diagnosis and problem solving
  • team building
  • conflict resolution
  • strategic planning
  • change management
  • retreat facilitation

Center faculty bring a thorough grounding in organization development theories and group facilitation techniques plus the highest standard of quality to their work. Whether using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to improve communication, or consulting on a long-term system-wide change, our approach is flexible and collaborative, designed to address the groups particular needs. This approach ensures real, enduring results.

In order to further the professional development of key medical leaders, organizations and/or individuals frequently invest in one-on-one coaching. The focus is on setting and attaining specific goals for improved personal and professional effectiveness.

Coaching can be done in person or over the telephone, supplemented by email correspondence. The appropriate interval and duration of the sessions is determined with the clients needs in mind.
