Nelly Mauras, MD, is the director of The Center for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism in Jacksonville. Dr. Mauras did her undergrad studies in Chemistry (Magna Cum Laude) and received her medical degree at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric internship and residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota and her pediatric endocrine fellowship at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and by the Subspecialty Board of Pediatric Endocrinology. Dr. Mauras has extensive experience in clinical research, performing complex original physiologic and therapeutic studies in children. She is keenly interested in the metabolic interactions of hormones and nutrients in children and adolescents, particularly in the areas of diabetes and growth disorders. Dr. Mauras is widely published in the field of endocrinology with over 160 papers in the peer reviewed literature to-date and is a National and International speaker. She is Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism at Nemours Children's Clinic-Jacksonville and Professor of Pediatrics at the Mayo College of Medicine, Mayo Foundation. She is presently funded by NIH, Thrasher Research Fund, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and original industry-sponsored work.
