Nemours Conflict of Interest Policy
Nemours is committed to ethical behavior and full compliance with applicable laws and regulations in the conduct of its business and research activities. The Nemours Conflict of Interest (COI) policy assists in identifying the most common situations that create conflicts of interest; clarifies what activities are permitted and those that should be avoided; provides disclosure requirements; and establishes processes for addressing conflicts of interest.
COI policy access signifies that Nemours applies for and receives Public Health Service (PHS) funding from grants or cooperative agreements, and is in full compliance with the 2011 revised regulation, 42 CFR Part 50 and 45 CFR Part 94, Responsibility of Applicants for Promoting Objectivity in Research for which PHS funding is Sought and Responsible Prospective Contractors; Final Rule. The purpose of this regulation is to promote objectivity in research by establishing standards that provide a reasonable expectation that the design, conduct, and reporting of research performed under PHS contracts will be free from bias resulting from Investigator financial conflicts of interest.
Public Access to Significant Financial Interest Information Involving PHS-Funded Projects
In accordance with the PHS regulation, Nemours ensures public accessibility to any disclosed Significant Financial Interest (SFI) that meets the following three criteria:
1. The SFI was disclosed and is still held by the Senior/Key personnel as defined in the PHS regulation;
2. Nemours has determined that the SFI is related to the PHS-funded research; and
3. Nemours has determined that the SFI is a Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI).
