Amy Wagner Anzilotti, MD

Amy Wagner Anzilotti, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician and medical editor at Nemours KidsHealth. Dr. Anzilotti writes and co-produces various multimedia patient education tools including articles, patient instruction handouts, blog posts, animations and illustrations.

Dr. Anzilotti received her behavioral neuroscience degree from Lehigh University, then did a brief stint in the media at C-SPAN. She attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, and did her pediatric residency at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT. From 2011-2015, she created and ran a website/blog, and from 2004-2012 was co-owner, medical consultant, and blogger for She has been on staff at Nemours Children’s since 2004.

Elana Pearl Ben-Joseph, MD, MPH

Elana Pearl Ben-Joseph, MD, MPH, is a pediatrician and Medical Editor at Nemours KidsHealth, where she helps create health and wellness information for parents, kids and teens. Dr. Pearl Ben-Joseph writes content and reviews materials for, as well as for instructions provided to patients.

Dr. Pearl Ben-Joseph received her B.Sc. and MD from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. After completing a pediatrics residency at Schneider Children's Medical Center of Israel, she did a fellowship in Children’s Health Media at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware in Wilmington. She also holds an MPH degree from Brown University.

Larissa Hirsch, MD

Larissa Hirsch, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician and medical editor at Nemours KidsHealth. Dr. Hirsch helps to create the content on and ensure its medical accuracy. She also reviews and updates the information in patient instructions used during medical visits. For more than 10 years, Dr. Hirsch has helped create and review videos for KidsHealth and GetWellNetwork.

Dr. Hirsch received her BA from Brown University and her MD from SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine in New York. She completed her residency and chief residency in pediatrics at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Hirsch was selected from a national search to receive the Nemours Center for Children’s Health Media Fellowship, which she completed in June 2007.

Melanie Pitone, MD

Melanie Pitone, MD, is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine. As a medical editor at Nemours KidsHealth, Dr. Pitone helps to create the content on and ensure its medical accuracy. She also reviews and updates the information in patient instructions used during medical visits. She also partners with Nemours clinical teams on research projects to find ways to educate patients on their health.

Dr. Pitone received her BA in biology from Franklin & Marshall college and her MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. She completed her residency in pediatrics and fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children (now Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware). She was an attending physician in the emergency department at Nemours for more than 12 years. During that time, she served on several hospital committees and wrote peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
