Get to Know Me
I grew up in Canada and have been involved in sports all my life. At 14, I sustained an ACL injury downhill skiing. The doctors and therapists who helped me recover piqued my interest in sports medicine, which led me to a residency and fellowship at Harvard’s teaching hospitals: Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital.
Why I Treat Children
I think an active lifestyle is good for everyone, especially children and adolescents. It benefits their overall health, helps them forge friendships, fosters teamwork and sportsmanship, encourages goal-setting and discipline, and it’s fun. It’s a privilege to help young athletes overcome injuries and return to the activities they love.
What I'm Passionate About
My work has allowed me to blend my love of medicine and travel. In 2008 I was one of six physicians covering a 250 kilometer foot race through the Sahara Desert. I’ve also enjoyed providing medical coverage for the Boston Marathon, Boston Ballet, the ATP Champions Tour in Boston and Miami, college hockey, as well as many triathlons and marathons.
Make A Difference
For many young athletes, activities help them define who they are — so when they’re injured, their routine is altered and they can feel cut off from their friends. This can lead to feelings of frustration and unhappiness. So my goal is to work with the child and their family to get them back to their normal routine as quickly and safely as possible.
What I Do For Fun
I enjoy outdoor activities with my husband and traveling and jogging with our chocolate lab. One of my favorite trips was hiking up Mt. Kilimanjaro with my father. I also enjoy horse racing and have been on the Kentucky Derby staff for many years. I have helped cover the Preakness and Belmont Stakes for ABC and NBC and also helped cover Wimbledon.
