Get to Know Me

Anthony Gannon, MD, MSCE, is a board-certified adult and pediatric endocrinologist who specializes in endocrine disorders affecting children, adolescents, and young adults. He has particular expertise in advanced diabetes technologies, endocrine tumors, thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, and helping adolescents and young adults successfully transition from pediatric to adult healthcare systems. Dr. Gannon serves as the Director of the Thyroid Nodule and Thyroid Cancer Program at Nemours Children’s Health, where he is committed to providing high-quality, personalized care for children and adolescents with thyroid disease.

Why I Treat Children

I chose pediatric endocrinology because it truly gives me joy to partner with children and families as they learn to understand and manage complex medical conditions. I serve families by providing the knowledge, tools, and support they need to confidently navigate treatment and achieve their goals both in health and in life.

Because I am trained and actively practice in both pediatric and adult endocrinology, I am uniquely able to help families prepare for the transition from pediatric to adult care. This perspective allows me to support patients through every stage of their journey, ensuring continuity of care as they grow into adulthood.

What I'm Passionate About

I am passionate about delivering comprehensive, evidence-based, and individualized care to children with endocrine disorders. I believe families should have access to clear, understandable information and support that aligns with their values, goals, and preferences. My role is to help make complex medical information accessible, answer questions openly, and create an environment where families feel confident making decisions about their child's care.

Whether discussing diabetes technology, treatment options for thyroid nodules and cancers, or management of a complex endocrine condition, I believe families should be empowered to take an active role in the decisions that affect their child. While no family chooses to face a serious medical condition, they should be supported in choosing how they navigate that journey.

I am also committed to improving the healthcare experience for children beyond the exam room. As Director of Quality Improvement for Endocrinology, I lead initiatives aimed at improving the safety, quality, and consistency of endocrine care. As Medical Director for Specialty Care Integration, I work to strengthen collaboration across specialties and improve care coordination for children with complex medical needs.

How I Try to Make A Difference

Endocrinology is a field where there is rarely a one-size-fits-all solution. Every child and family has unique concerns and priorities. My goal is to build trusted partnerships with families, so they feel informed, supported, and empowered to advocate for their child. Equally important, I strive to help children develop the knowledge, confidence, and skills to advocate for themselves as they grow.

I believe the most meaningful difference I can make is to listen carefully, provide clear and accessible information, and develop personalized treatment plans that reflect each family's values and goals. By combining expert medical care with shared decision-making, I help children and their families navigate complex health challenges with confidence and achieve the best possible outcomes.
