Children ages 12-17, who have well-controlled asthma, are wanted in a clinical trial to study the effectiveness of mobile devices in an effort to determine the lowest dosage of medication needed to maintain control.

Obesity & Asthma: Genetics and Nutrigenetic Response to Omega-3 Fatty Acids (GenOA/NOOA)

What is the study about?

We want to find out if omega-3 fatty acids (from fish oil) reduce the body’s inflammation and improve lung function and asthma symptoms in overweight teens and young adults with asthma.

Who can participate?

We are recruiting patients who:
  • are between the ages of 12 and 25 years
  • have asthma with symptoms at least 5 days a week
  • take asthma controller medication 5 or more days a week
  • have a BMI (Body Mass Index, which is used to indicate if a person is over or under weight) greater than 90%

What is the time commitment?

Participants will require 4 to 5 clinic visits and 6 phone calls to monitor asthma over a 6 month period. Clinic study visits range from 2.5 to 3 hours each.

What are the costs of being in this study?

There are no costs involved in the study.

Will I be compensated for my time?

Participants can receive up to $200 for time and travel for completing all study visits and testing.
