Family-Centered Care in Delaware Valley
Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware, Wilmington, Del.
With the opening of our newly expanded hospital in 2014, we've created a children's hospital like no other in the region — giving our patients and families the promise of even better days to come.
Participation & Collaboration
We welcome ideas and advice from patients and families about how to best deliver family-centered care. We include you as part of your child's care team — after all, no one knows your child better than you do.
Family Advisory Council
We have a hospital Family Advisory Council that incorporates families feedback to help improve our care. Various specialties and conditions have their own councils as well (like cystic fibrosis and cancer and blood disorders) so that they can help us offer their children the very best care for their families' very unique needs. Teen Advisory Council
We’re very fortunate to have a vibrant group of teens who commit their time and talents to making the hospital a better place for our patients and families. TAC members help us make meaningful improvements for all the children and their families while in the hospital. Learn More »
Family As Faculty Program
Families of the kids we see can get involved by sharing their story with us, from the parent's perspective.
Family Ambassador Program
Our Family Ambassadors offer comfort to families, help with admissions, coordinate care, and act as guides for our many support services.
Family-Centered Rounds
We aim to include families and allow them to participate in physicians' daily rounds (when the entire care team goes from room to room to discuss the care of each child staying with us).
Family Voices Newsletter
Read this regular publication, produced by members of the Family Advisory Council, in collaboration with Nemours staff. Learn More »
Family-Friendly Hours
There are no visiting hours for parents and legal guardians of children staying with us (inpatients) — you’re welcome here all day, every day. You can stay with your child 24 hours a day, seven days a week if you want to. You can also designate other “partners in care” who can be here with your child as well — any day, any time — to provide support and promote healing.
Information Sharing
We give you timely, accurate, and family-friendly information so you can be an advocate for your child.
