Versant New Graduate Nurse Residency Program™ at Nemours Children’s Hospital
Nemours Children’s Hospital (NCH) has partnered with Versant® to offer a New Graduate RN Residency program. This one-year program includes education and training designed to transition newly graduated registered nurses from students to safe, competent professionals.
The program's main goals are:
- to provide a comprehensive, standardized approach designed to transition a new graduate RN into professional practice
- to continuously improve the quality of patient care through the ongoing development of competent and safe beginning level clinical nurses
A formalized residency program will benefit the patients and families, the professional practice environment, and the organization as a whole through the focus of quality, safety and the patient experience. The program is also grounded in evidence-based practice and competency validation.
We had three successful cohorts of residents since starting the program in 2017. We will post a new graduate RN job description to the HR job site when we start the recruitment process for the next cohort. The entire recruitment process may take 90 days, so we start the process well in advance of the start date.
At this time, we recommend getting a current AHA BLS, current PALS, and three professional letters of recommendation (teachers, employers). Those hired into the program will need a current FL RN license. The requirements may change, so the application site will be your guide as to requirements.
