Dr. Michael Maguire is dual-trained in pediatrics and adult internal medicine. He is an attending pediatric hospitalist at duPont Hospital for Children, and an attending medicine-pediatrics physician at Christiana Care. He focuses his care on children in the hospital and continuing care as they transition to adult care.
Why I Treat Children
I love applying the knowledge I’ve gained from the study of pediatrics and internal medicine together to treat children. I enjoy witnessing the resilience of children and focusing on preventive care. I have an interest in public health and in the transition of care, specifically helping kids prepare for and then receive appropriate medical care as adults.
What I'm Passionate About
I’m especially passionate about ensuring kids receive the highest quality of care while in the hospital, and that they are prepared to transition to receiving care as adults. I have a special interest in policy, public health and global health. I am very interested in academic medicine and helping train tomorrow’s physicians. Some of my medical interests include: general pediatrics internal medicine inpatient hospital care medical education public health global health leadership development clinician well-being and burnout
Make A Difference
I’ve had leadership roles in multiple national organizations, and I teach medical education classes at a variety of different universities. I’ve used my training in pediatrics and in internal medicine as a volunteer in global health in places such as Dominican Republic, Uganda and in Haiti.
