Hypospadias is a common condition infant boys are born with where the urethra (the opening that carries urine out of the body) opens on the underside of the penis, not at the tip. The goal of hypospadias surgery is to help your son pee, and also to improve the cosmetic appearance of his penis. The surgery usually doesn’t require an overnight stay in the hospital. And most boys grow up to have normal urinary and sexual function.
Recognized Pediatric Surgeons for Hypospadias Repair
Services We Offer for Hypospadias
Our pediatric urologists offer a variety of diagnostic and treatment services, which may vary depending on the location you visit, including:
- hypospadias repair — an outpatient surgery done by a pediatric urologist, usually performed when your son is older than four months of age
- urologic cosmetic procedures — to correct a condition called “chordee” (a downward curve of the penis that often happens with hypospadias)
Some mild cases might not need surgery at all.
