Enuresis (Bedwetting)

Sensitive Help for Kids of All Ages

Enuresis (also known as “bedwetting”) is the medical name for not being able to control your urine (pee). Sometimes enuresis is also called “involuntary urination.” It can happen at night (called “nocturnal enuresis) or during the day. And it can happen for lots of reasons and at different ages, from little kids to teens. At Nemours, our teams are sensitive in their approach to your child’s issue. We’ll offer solutions that work for your child and family, and even make it fun and rewarding for your child to figure out how to stop bedwetting.

Services We Offer for Enuresis

Services We Offer for Enuresis

Led by our pediatric urologists, we offer complete care for children with bladder control issues, including problems with daytime wetting, urinary urgency and frequency, and nighttime bedwetting.

We offer a variety of diagnostic and treatment services, which may vary depending on your child’s situation or the location you visit, including:

  • antibiotics (to prevent infections when bedwetting is caused by frequent urinary tract infections
  • neurology (for seizures or other brain-related or developmental symptoms that may be causing a loss of bladder control)
  • behavioral health (if no medical problems are found)
  • biofeedback (part of behavior therapy that teaches your child to relax and listen to their body’s internal signals)
  • interactive and featured games (part of our featured bladder and continence programs)
  • urodynamics studies (tests that show how well the bladder and urethra are storing and releasing urine)
