Caring For Your Newborn
Join other expecting parents as pediatricians from Nemours Children’s explain the basics of caring for a newborn. Babies don’t come with user’s manuals, so our team of experts will help prepare you to navigate the early days of parenting by telling you what to expect when you leave the hospital, teaching you new skills, and answering your questions. You'll also have the opportunity to connect with other expecting parents in the area, learn about Nemours Children’s Primary Care and choose a pediatrician.
This class is great for new parents and parenting pros looking for a refresher. Grandparents and other caregivers are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Meet Our Experts
Laura Chilcutt, MD, JD
Laura Chilcutt, MD, JD, is a pediatrician and medical director of Medical-Social Impact at Nemours Children’s Health, Orlando. Dr. Chilcutt uses her combined advocacy skills as a physician and attorney to respond to the social determinants of health that negatively impact the lives of Nemours’ patients and families. Out of the hospital, she operates a volunteer-led mobile clinic for uninsured children and uses the clinic to teach residents and students about caring for the community. Dr. Chilcutt is also a policy advisor with the government relations team and through that position offers residents first-hand experience with policy work and interacting with elected officials.
Anevea Tinnery, MD
Dr. Anevea Tinnery was born and raised in New Jersey. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J. Afterwards, she obtained her medical degree from Rutgers, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She moved to Orlando, Fla. to start her pediatric residency training at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida. Her medical interests include newborn care, emergency medicine and treating outpatient underserved populations. She loves watching/attending sporting events, painting, party planning and spending time with her puppy.
Urdur Jonsdottir, MD
Urdur Jonsdottir, MD, is a pediatrician and recognized researcher who is part of our team of resident physicians located at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida in Orlando. Dr. Jonsdottir earned her medical degree from the University of Iceland College of Medicine in Reykjavik. She continued her training with an internship at The National University Hospital of Iceland, then a residency in general pediatrics at the Children's Hospital at the same institution. In addition to teaching newborn classes to families in our Central Florida communities, Dr. Jonsdottir is a resident clinical instructor of pediatrics for medical students at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. She is preparing for a fellowship in allergy and immunology with special interests including newborn and infant feeding, health equity and medical education. She is a mother of three and enjoys all types of outdoor activities with her husband and children.
Additional Details
The class will take place in the auditorium at Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida. When you arrive, please park in the parking garage (parking is free). Enter through the main entrance at the front of the hospital and check-in with security at the desk in the main lobby.
