Hemophilia is a rare disease that prevents blood from clotting properly. This means after a cut or injury, a child bleeds too much. Hemophilia is a congenital condition, which means a child is born with it. In our Nemours Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, our renowned hematologists (blood disorder specialists) diagnose and treat hemophilia. Although there’s no cure, with treatment and follow-up care, your child can lead a happy, active lifestyle.
