Dyslipidemia of Obesity Intervention in Teens (DO IT!)
Clinical Trial
Offered by: Nemours Children's
Location: Delaware Valley
Trial Name
Dyslipidemia of Obesity Intervention in Teens (DO IT!)
What is the trial about?
In this study, we hope to compare artery health and side effects in children who take the study medicine (Pitavastatin) to those who take a placebo.
Who can participate?
Your child can be in this research study if he/she has Combined Dyslipidemia of Obesity, and is 10 to 18 years old.
What is involved?
If your child qualifies for this study, your child will take a pill, either Pitavastatin or placebo, by mouth once a day, every day for 2 years.
Your child will come to the Nemours Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware 7 times over the 2 year study period. We will measure height, weight, waist and blood pressure at most study visits. A sample of blood will be taken from a vein at each visit. A sample of urine will be collected at some study visits.
We will also take measurements of the thickness and stiffness of certain blood vessels in the body. The tests will be done 4 times during the study and take about an hour. These measurements do not hurt and are not dangerous.
