Children with Williams syndrome can have issues with elasticity and flexibility in the heart muscles and blood vessels. They’re more likely to have congenital heart disease (a condition they’re born with) and narrowed blood vessels throughout the body.
Nemours Children’s is among a handful of programs in the country to offer integrated, highly specialized care for kids and young adults with Williams syndrome. We’re one of nine programs in the Williams Syndrome Association’s nationwide clinical consortium. This means our team furthers research and develops the standard of care for kids everywhere.
As part of recognized, award-winning heart centers in Delaware and Florida, our cardiology team works with many specialists and surgeons, nutritional counselors, respiratory therapists, rehabilitation therapists and others who know how to help kids with Williams syndrome thrive. Your child gets the highest level of pediatric expertise all in one place.
Together as a team, we watch your child as they grow and develop. We address problems early when treatment may be more effective. We educate your family and listen to you. And we’re here until your child reaches young adulthood.
